Impact investments are investments made with the intention of generating a measurable social and environmental impact, alongside financial returns.

OUR APPROACH

Freyja’s impact investment strategy creates a cycle of sustainable impact: we maximize long-term positive social and environmental change across our portfolio by investing our capital into values-aligned investments and using those ‘positive’ returns to fund our philanthropic strategy. We compound our ‘green capital’ financially and philanthropically.

FREYJA'S JOURNEY TO IMPACT INVESTING

Our journey toward a fully impact-aligned investment portfolio began in 2020. After a rigorous two-year process of developing robust frameworks and strategies, we're now executing a multi-year plan to fully align our investments with our impact goals.

From the foundation’s inception, Freyja implemented an environmentally-tilted ESG screen across our public equity strategy. In 2021, we wanted to amplify our positive impact and redefined our Investment Policy Statement (IPS) to include a climate and values-based mandate across the full capital spectrum of our portfolio.

To amplify our positive impact, we partnered with our existing advisor, Offit Capital, to integrate impact investing screening and investment opportunities across the whole firm. This collaborative approach not only maximized our capital's influence but also catalyzed broader systemic change within Offit. We worked collaboratively to develop a rigorous framework for evaluating managers, investments, and their associated positive outcomes. This comprehensive approach ensures that our investments contribute to a more sustainable future, while also paving the way for Offit to offer impact investing options to its other clients.
